2025 Fall Career Night: Cracking the Hiring Process with Fatima Kargbo-Gathers
On November 4, 2025, Touro University Graduate School of Technology (GST) Office of Career Services hosted the 2025 Fall Career Night - a night dedicated to empowering students with the tools to succeed in today’s competitive job market.
The evening’s presentation, “Step Into Your Future: Cracking the Hiring Process,” was delivered by Fatima Kargbo-Gathers, MBA, an accomplished HR and recruiting professional with over 15 years of experience at AI startups and global tech leaders like Microsoft and Google.
Fatima’s session offered a deep dive into the hiring process from a technical recruiter’s perspective, covering:
- Resume preparation and tailoring for tech roles
- Interview strategies - behavioral and technical
- Company research and how to stand out
- Networking opportunities and building meaningful connections
- Overcoming rejection and staying resilient
- Key hiring process statistics every candidate should know
One of the most engaging moments of the night was the live mock interview, where students volunteered to answer real behavioral and technical questions. Fatima provided instant feedback, giving participants a rare insider view of what recruiters are looking for and how to improve their performance.
To make the evening even more memorable, students who participated in the mock interviews received exclusive swag from Fatima’s company, Hire Influence Consulting, including branded t-shirts, cookies, notebooks, and more—a fun way to celebrate their courage and engagement.
Students left energized and equipped with practical strategies to navigate the job market. “It was a great night of learning, connection, and career development,” said Leanne McKeown, Director of Corporate Outreach and Career Development at Touro GST’s Office of Career Services. “Events like these help our students step confidently into their future.”
The event underscored Touro Graduate School of Technology's commitment to bridging education and industry, ensuring graduates are prepared to thrive in technology careers.
