Back by Popular Demand!
In today’s competitive market, Big Data Analytics (BDA) − the examination of massive sums of information to find hidden patterns, correlations, market trends, and customer preferences − can be the key to success for organizations and their employees.
This fall, students at Touro University Graduate School of Technology (GST) can learn BDA in the context of money management through Principles of Financial Data Analysis. Introduced in 2014 (and back by popular demand) this course will teach the theory, applications, and digital programming of financial data, as well as how to analyze investment strategies used by financial advisors and determine which ones are effective.
The course will also explain:
- the fundamentals of the emerging field of data science
- how data science and analysis solves business problems
- how to identify new business opportunities based on market data
Course instructor Rajive Jain, a Senior Vice President in Identity Access Management at Bank of
America, stressed how far data base systems have come. In the time it used to take to research 10
stocks, we now can now analyze ten thousand,
he said.
But because technologies quickly become obsolete, Prof. Jain teaches students, how to approach a
problem and solve it.
You have to get very comfortable learning stuff on your own. I try to teach the tools but also how
to figure things out, to be independent self-learners,
said Prof. Jain.
