GST’s One-Day Institute Series Offers Overviews in Motion Graphics, Web Design, and Education Technology
Have you ever wanted to explore the worlds of web design or computer graphics? Are you interested in how state-of-the-art technology can be used for early childhood education? If so, then Touro University Graduate School of Technology’s (GST) One-Day Institutes are for you. Learn about tools in computer technology that could help you grow your career or get started on a new one.
Introduction to Motion Graphics for the Web – Jan. 6
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to create motion graphics for the web, the pros and cons of delivering moving images in a video file, plus programming techniques using HTML and JavaScript. Prof. Andy Deck will demonstrate how to work with tools that make web pages pop, such as sliding content, fading element opacity, decorative animation, and interactive links.
If you can cook with a recipe, you can implement many of the free motion graphics effects that
embellish web pages today,
said Prof. Deck.
HTML beginners will gain an understanding of the ways that web page components are animated, while more advanced attendees will explore the increasingly rich design space offered by HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. A basic familiarity with computers is required; knowledge of HTML is a plus.
Exploring Web Development – Jan. 11
In this seminar, Prof. Irina Berman explains how web pages are designed and created. You will be introduced to Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) − the standard used to create web pages to tag the content that your computer displays. The class will cover HTML5, tags, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) −the technology that controls the appearance of the content on a web page.
This seminar is designed to help the novice who wants to explore how Web pages are actually
created and styled and will appeal to a wide variety of people, but specifically those who would
like a step-by-step introduction to the basics,
said Prof. Berman. No prior programming
skills or IT experience is necessary.
