Program Overview: Advanced Certificate in Web & Digital Design
- Twelve-credit advanced certificate program
- Builds a strong foundation in designing functional and responsive websites
- Introduces key concepts, strategies, and tools for interactive web development
- Covers interface development, case studies, research, planning, and user testing
- Teaches domain purchase and website publishing essentials
- Offers hands‑on experience with:
- SASS (CSS preprocessor)
- HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap 4
- JavaScript
- Lean UX process
- Guides students in creating interactive projects for web, smartphone, tablet, and kiosk interfaces
- Explores concepts such as:
- Information architecture
- User accessibility
- Navigation and metaphor
- User interaction
The candidate will be able to:
- Understand and apply the basic concepts and current practices of front‑end interactive web design
- Engage in competitive research and planning
- Obtain, develop, and organize design assets
- Prototype and wireframe website organization
- Construct a website from scratch using current tools and languages
- Prototype a variety of design ideas for multiple end‑uses
- Present design ideas in group settings
- Enter the Touro masters‑level web design program with 12 graduate credits
- Compete successfully for entry‑level web design positions in startup or corporate settings

Foundations and History of Design
- This course explores the principles and elements of visual design, including the basic vocabulary of visual forms, the various materials used in the field, related technical and computer skills, and important creative problem solving strategies. A variety of creative projects are designed to challenge students to demonstrate their visual creative skills, their grasp of visual literacy, and their growing technical competence. Students submit their work to class critiques that assess their cumulative understanding of the concepts and skills taught.

Foundations of Web Design
- This course presents students with the information and skills needed to use HTML and CSS to build responsive websites. The course includes presentations, demonstrations, exercises, assignments, quizzes, and two major projects (one personal and one completed with the class team). Students develop sitemaps, wireframes, and style guides to help them conceptualize an effective web design strategy. They also learn how to create effective email advertising. Students complete the course with the necessary skills and knowledge to jumpstart their career in web design and development.

Introduction to Web Development for UX/UI Designers
- This course introduces key technologies and workflows in web development. Students gain hands-on experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, learning to collaborate with developers and troubleshoot issues. The course emphasizes proficiency in web basics, strategic communication, and continued learning. AI tools support debugging, generation, and interface simulation.

Responsive Web Development for UX/UI Designers
- This course introduces responsive web design and front-end development for UX/UI. Students use HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and SASS to build and refine websites. Key topics include design strategy, Lean UX, accessibility, optimization, and domain setup. Group critiques and user testing support iteration. Students apply AI tools for code generation and debugging. Final projects are presented as live portfolio pieces.
