Touro GST offers an Advanced Certificate Program in Project Management. This program will allow individuals to get a good foundation in Technology Project Management without committing to earning a master’s degree. Our two-semester program is perfect for career-changers or those who want to gain a competitive edge in their technology career with an advanced credential in a thriving field and the opportunity to pursue certifications in each discipline.

Students who complete this advanced certificate program will earn a micro-badge. These courses have been specifically selected to not only provide a well-rounded academic Project Management education but also help students in pursuing associated certifications (PMI-CAPM and PMP, ITIL, Agile Certified Practitioner). These academic courses can also apply towards a Master of Science degree in Information Systems, with a concentration in Project Management.

MSIN 609

Information Technology Project Management

This course is an introductory course that provides the fundamental principles of technology project management. In this course, students will learn how to use Project Management Best Practices to bring order to the otherwise chaotic world of information technology projects, by defining a set of guidelines and standards, and then adhering to them. The student will learn to view Project Management as a set of tools that are an integral part of business strategy. In addition, students will receive a unique perspective on the issues surrounding the management of information technology projects in various organizations.This course will provide students with a solid foundation in IT Project Management

MSIN 610

Advanced Information Technology Project Management

The objective of this course is for students to understand how to bring order to the otherwise chaotic world of information technology projects, by defining a set of guidelines and standards, and then adhering to them. Students learn to view Project Management as a set of tools that are an integral part of business strategy. This course also expands students’ knowledge of the Project Management discipline that a Certified Project Manager is required to know and understand. This course will provide students with the foundation to apply for CAPM certification.

MSIN 622

IT Service Management

IT Service Management is the practice of implementing and managing the various phases of the IT service management lifecycle to meet the growing needs of the organization. Upon the completion of this course, students will learn and be able to apply recognized frameworks using real world scenarios. Students will walk away understanding the processes and best practices to sustain an organization. This course will provide students with the foundation to apply for ITIL certification.

MSIN 666

Agile Project Management

 Agile methodologies have revolutionized approaches to product development and project management. This course is designed for those students who have a foundational understanding of traditional project management tools and processes, e.g., timelines and budgets, tools such as Microsoft Project, and Gantt charts, either through formal training or practical experience. Several agile methodologies will be introduced, such as Scrum, XP, Lean, and Kanban. While learning how to break down a project into pieces that can be scheduled, tracked, and controlled, attention will also be given to the human element in product lifecycles, including how to foster group engagement. The nature and types of project risk involved will also be examined. Completing this course will prepare students to obtain Agile certification.

MODE OF DELIVERY FOR MSIS COURSES:

The MSIN 609 course will be delivered to students through asynchronous education, whereby the learning does not occur in the same place or at the same time. Instead, the lectures are accessed by students on demand and flexibly, so that they individually learn the material where they choose and when they choose. F1 international students must follow the guidance of the Department of Homeland Security regarding classroom presence and can contact us for more information.

For the other three courses:

Students may join any class session on campus or online. Professors and students are interacting in real time during the class session, with some students in the classroom and the rest joining online. All students can later re-watch the recording of any class session on their own time to reinforce that evening’s concepts.
