One Day Institutes

The Touro Graduate School of Technology sponsors a series of One-Day Institutes each year on a variety of current topics relevant to the Information Technology, Web and Multi-media, and Educational Technology fields.

The Institutes are free and low cost, and open to the general public, but because seating is limited, attendees must register in advance to be accepted.

Exploring Mobile App Development

Jump in and explore Apple’s singular approach to mobile app design and development by creating your own interactive Portfolio app from the ground up. This is a unique chance to learn how to use the XCode integrated development environment through a guided, hands-on, step-by-step tour of the process that will lead you to successfully complete a functional app. At the end, you will have the tools to extend and modify the app, and even submit it to the App Store.

Programming for Non-Programmers

Be part of a unique interactive workshop introducing app programming for people without any programming experience. Exploring Web Development

This brief course will enable students to approach real-world design problems using the Web as a medium. It will serve as an introduction to industry-standard technologies, including CSS and HTML. Introduction to Motion Graphics for the Web

In this hands-on workshop, attendees will learn how motion graphics can be achieved in a web browser, the pros and cons of delivering moving imagery in video file formats, and how to produce web pages using the HTML5 <video> tag. It will address strategies for motion graphics that involve HTML5, CSS, scripting and Javascript frameworks. Attendees will learn about sliding content, fading element opacity, abstract decorative animation, and interactive techniques. Basic familiarity with computers is required. Familiarity with HTML is a plus. Programming techniques will be introduced.

Get a Quick-Start to Animation in Maya

You will learn how to navigate the interface and create simple primitive shapes, key-frames and then edit an animation from Maya's Time Slider and Graph Editor. You'll also learn how to animate objects along a path, get a basic understanding behind the hierarchy system in Maya, and how that can be used to your advantage, while animating with Constraints. You’ll leave this workshop with the basic understanding necessary to animate comfortably inside of Maya.

Photography and Social Media Institute
